What do GEMS have to do with Gelato?!

Gemlato founders, Greg & Lindsay met while attending the Gemological Institute of America, studying to become Graduate Gemologists. Their path later led them to purchase K.Jons Jewelry Co. in Atascdero, CA, subsequent to Lindsay working there as an employee for many years.  

While attending a tradeshow in Tucson, AZ, Greg & Lindsay took their employees to their favorite local gelato shop.  One of them joked about Greg & Lindsay opening a gelato shop.  They said... OK!  One thing led to another & Gemlato was born. 

Naturally, they wanted to incorporate their love of GEMS into the name.  Gemlato seemed to express their combined love of gems & gelato.  

Lindsay's brother, Eric, has extensive experience in restaurant management.  It's a perfect trio - with Greg & Lindsay's business ownership experience, and Eric's ability to run a food establishment.  

 

Eric & Lindsay traveled to Italy to study under a 3rd generation Italian Gelato Master Chef & Gelateria Owner, learning to craft authentic artisan gelato completely from scratch using all natural whole food ingredients.  

When people eat gelato in Italy, they often say it doesn't bother their stomach... but when they eat gelato or ice cream in the US, it does bother them.  Lindsay & Eric have learned the secrets to make gelato the Italian-way & they can't wait to bring a little piece of Italy home to you. 

Gemlato owners - Greg, Lindsay & Eric - are thrilled to bring the art of Italian-style gelato made from scratch to the place they were born & raised - on the beautiful Central Coast of California!
